Trump also emphasised that all these projects make the Gulf region an important player in the emerging world.

Aabar Investments, the Abu Dhabi government company which owns stakes in Daimler and UniCredit, raised its ownership in Arabtec to 5.28 per cent this week.

The largest residential real estate transaction in Dubai last year was registered in Burj Khalifa with the price topping Dh28 million, according to Reidin.com. The 11,355 square foot space was sold for Dh28.15 million, or Dh2,479 per square foot, in October 2011. The second largest transaction was again in Burj Khalifa, for a Dh7,910 square feet unit which was sold for Dh28 million, Dh3,910 per square feet, in February 2011.

Twitteratis, however, continue to tweet despite police denial of any fire at the world’s tallest tower in Dubai.
