STATESBORO, Ga. — The project engineer for the world’s tallest building plans to give a presentation at Georgia Southern University.
Larry Novak, director of engineered buildings for the Portland Cement Association, played a key role in the construction of the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai.
Novak plans to discuss his responsibilities as the senior project engineer for the tower’s structural design. His visit to campus comes as Georgia Southern plans to start offering baccalaureate degrees in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering in the fall.
The tower took almost six years to complete and is more than 160 stories tall. It houses a shopping mall, as well as private residences, corporate offices, restaurants and an observation deck on the 124th floor.
Novak’s April 27 presentation is free and open to the public.
