The world’s tallest building officially opened this month in the United Arab Emirates. At 2,717 feet – more than a half-mile – the Burj Khalifa towers over Dubai come closer than any other man-made structure to truly scraping the sky.
You could not make it up, but Dubai did
IF you can imagine it, Dubai will create it. Islands in the shape of palm trees, or the planet? No problem. In fact Dubai gets quite hung up on superlatives. It has the world’s tallest building in the Burj Khalifa (formerly the Burj Dubai), which soars to 800m (2,625 feet) and has more than 160 storeys.

Aerobatic Teams Stage Fly-past
Two aerobatics teams participating in this year’s Al Ain Aerobatic Show have made a spectacular fly-past over the southern emirates at the start of the second day of the internationally acclaimed event. At 9.50am, the seven L-39 Albatros Breitling Team jets joined forces with the four BAC 167 Strikemasters of Team Viper, flying over Al Ain before heading towards Dubai. They passed over Burj Khalifa and Atlantis Hotel and then headed to the coast of Abu Dhabi, circling over the Emirates Palace Hotel and Grand Mosque and finally returning to Al Ain.
Dubai needs more efforts for further growth
Dubai’s officials said that a dazzling display of fireworks at the inauguration of World’s tallest tower-Burj Khalifa was aimed to give message of Dubai emerging from the worst financial crisis and the emirate has started its new journey for scaling new heights of growth.
After Dubai, These Will Be The Next Six Armani Hotel Locations
On March 18—just over a month and a half from now—the world will have its first Armani Hotel on the first 37 stories of the newly-opened world’s tallest building—the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. But this won’t be the end of Signore Armani’s hotels. In fact, it’s only the beginning, what with Giorgio signing a contract to have ten Armani Hotel properties around the world by 2019.
Flintoff aiming for the top again
The Burj Khalifa rises like a glass spike, nearly a kilometre into the Dubai sky. There’s no taller building in the world. Despite suffering from vertigo in the past, Andrew Flintoff is up for my suggestion that we go to the top. As we head for the world’s fastest elevator, he reveals his previous wobbles negotiating tall buildings.
