The Manhattan skyline is about to get a new king. One World Trade Center is expected to pass 1,250 feet in height today overtaking the iconic Empire State Building. Once completed the Freedom Tower – One World Trade Center – will stand at 1,776 feet with 104 floors.

This is 408 feet taller than the twin towers, which were destroyed on the September 11th, terrorist attacks on this country. Even though One World Trade might be making headlines today, there is still only one king of the skyscrapers and that is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Here are some photos of the Burj Khalifa versus One World Trade Center – the Freedom Tower

Once completed One World Trade Center will also be the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. A title once held by the Willis Tower – formerly known as the Sears Tower – which stands at 1,451 feet. The Freedom tower however still does not compare to the tallest building in the world which stands at 2,717 feet and is in Dubai – the Burj Khalifa. More info and photos
