Putzmeister reached a world record vertical concrete pumping height of 1,988 feet during the construction of the world's tallest building.

The observation deck at the world's tallest building reopened yesterday, two months after being closed by a terrifying lift drama. Visitors were trapped for 45 minutes in February when their lift got stuck more than 120 floors above ground at the 828ft Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai.

The tower will boast 662 meters of concrete structure and a 155-meter crescent-topped metal spire. Combined, the two parts of the tower in Makkah will be only roughly 11 meters shorter than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower at 828 meters.

Although impressive, it’s still not as tall as the Burj Khalifa, in Dubai, which checks in at approximately 2,717 feet. By comparison, the next tallest building is the Taipei 101 in Taiwan, which only reaches 1,667 feet.

Trade Arabia reported that in a landmark eco initiative, Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building developed by Emaar Properties in Dubai is tapping solar power for meeting a bulk of the water heating requirements of residents.
