A famous Dubai landmark will soon find its way on license plate near you as the Roads and Transports Authority approves a plan to personalise your drive. The service is set to roll out next year by end of Q1, with future initiatives including personalised corporate logos on number plates, or even an image of your favourite local football club.

Visitors to At The Top can make their own souvenir in the penny press machine after taking in the glorious views of Dubai.

The new city will be located between Emirates Road, Al Khail Road and Shaikh Zayed Road, and will include the Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens project. It will be connected to Downtown Dubai and Business Bay through a crossing that will be named the “Cultural Crossing” which will include art galleries and create the largest area for arts in the region.

A new Russian helicopter could put out a fire at the top of the 163-story Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world at 828 metres – when the complexities of high altitude make using traditional fire-fighting techniques impossible, a Russian Helicopters official told the High-Rise Aerial Firefighting & Rescue conference at Dubai Helishow 2012.

Emaar Hospitality Group, the hospitality and leisure subsidiary of global developer Emaar, has appointed Stefan Viard as general manager of Al Manzil and Qamardeen Hotels. The group took over operations at the Downtown properties in Dubai from South African operator Tsogo Sun earlier this year.
