Emaar Properties signs Dh3.6b financing facility
Emaar Properties yesterday raised Dh3.6 billion through a syndicated financing facility. The facility consists of both Islamic and conventional components. An Emaar spokesperson told Gulf News that Dh2.8 billion of the facility is Islamic while Dh800 million is conventional.

Mayhem ensued as Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise walked the red carpet during Wednesday evening’s open ceremony for the 8th edition Dubai International Film Festival. However, it has to be said that even more than Cruise himself, it was the cheers that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, drew when he walked the red carpet that really made the night for many of the excited fans.

Stuntman aims to balance on Burj Khalifa
In the 23 months since it opened, the world's tallest building has been a magnet for base jumpers and free climbers. Now, an extreme balancing artist wants to perform a death-defying handstand on its summit. Eskil Ronningsbakken, a former circus performer from Norway, has asked the owners of the Burj Khalifa for permission to perform the stunt, which he hopes to be "contrary to all physical laws".
