For many people, Dubai conjures up a picture of glamorous excess. Depa venture wins four new contracts worth Dh100m
Interiors provider links up with Northern Ireland-based Mivan Gureni Lukwaro Depa, the interiors company that fitted out the world's tallest tower, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, has won four new contracts worth Dh100 million (US$27.2m). The Dubai company said its joint venture with Mivan, based in Northern Ireland, had won three orders in the UAE and one in Yemen. The largest of them is a 12-month project worth Dh60m for the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, which is scheduled to open in late 2012.
Dubai Municipality tightens food safety
"From January 2011, it will be a requirement for all food businesses to have a Person in Charge (PIC) trained and certified in Food Safety," said Khalid Mohammed Sharif, Director of Food Control Department in Dubai Municipality, while addressing a press conference held at Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa. "The PIC can be the owner of the business or a designated person, such as a shift leader, chef, kitchen manager or similar individual who is always present and involved in the work site and has direct authority, control or supervision over employees who engage in the storage, preparation, display, or service of foods," he said.

Emaar earnings to surge on property handover
Most analysts expect Emaar to increase earnings in the third quarter, boosted by the handover of properties at Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower. 'Forecasting risk is almost entirely dependent on the handover rate of the Burj Khalifa, which we estimate is 30 per cent in the third quarter,' said Nomura analyst Chet Riley.
Sky high dining at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa
Dubai will claim to boast the highest restaurant in the world early next year when Emaar launches an outlet on floor 122 of Burj Khalifa. EHG has announced that the restaurant will be called Atmosphere and will be a unique addition to high-end dining in Dubai and the Middle East. Company chief executive officer, Marc Dardenne, told Caterer Middle East that the outlet, as a concept, had a world dimension.

New Restaurant in Dubai Going Up … Way Up!

The new restaurant, called “Atmosphere”, will be on the 122-nd floor of the Burj Khalifa, which is already home to the first Armani Hotel – the hotel chain built in corporation with Italian fashion machine Armani.
