Filming of the movie hit the international headlines last year when Cruise, 49, was photographed dangling from the outside of the Burj Khalifa in one scene. Other parts of the film are set at Dubai International Financial Centre and on the Palm Jumeirah. Further shoots took place in Prague, Moscow, Mumbai and Vancouver.

First released online by www.msn.co.uk and later by television's Entertainment Tonight, the outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage from Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol reveal what was involved in the three and a half weeks of filming in Dubai last October.

The film was shot extensively in the UAE, with shoots taking place in and on top of Burj Khalifa, at The Palace hotel, in the streets of Satwa and at a purpose-built set in the International Media Production Zone on Emirates Road. Releasing in the UAE on December 15, the film is expected to be a centrepiece of the Dubai International Film Festival, with Cruise and company rumoured to be in town for a screening.

According to a release issued by IMAX Melbourne, projectionist Dave Booty is flying to Dubai tonight to screen a special 17-minutes preview for the production team. Booty is scheduled to screen the IMAX footage of Cruise scaling Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
