MUSCAT: It was a triumph of its green cause for an Oman-based company which was honoured for reducing its carbon footprint recently, at the Arab Achievement Awards — the highlight of the second Arab Investment Summit in Abu Dhabi.
Dhofar Global Trading, a hygiene paper and dispenser supplier, was the recipient of the ‘Best Green Investment Project’ award for their ‘Cut Back’ sustainability project.
The initiative, through product innovation and customer education, managed to literally cut back the amount of paper its customers used by 22 per cent, saving them money and reducing the harmful carbon emissions produced in the manufacturing process.
22 per cent reduction
Chandan Singh, head of sales and marketing at Dhofar Global Trading said, “We managed to reduce the amount of tissue papers consumed by our customers by approximately 22 per cent using state-of-the-art dispensers, whose design was cleverly modified to dispense only single sheets using pre-perforated tissue.
“The savings were achieved mostly in the hospitality and corporate sectors, because both are mandated to use hygienic tissue papers for any cleaning purpose. Many premier hotel brands such as the One & Only Royal Mirage, Fairmont, Shangri-La, Hyatt Regency and Armani Hotel among others, use our products.”
The Arab Achievement Awards is designed to recognise companies and institutions who own, manage and create projects that have had a significant impact on the development of the Arab region. Being committed to sustainability and being customer-centric, Dhofar Global, two years ago, set about developing an innovative product, which would not compromise their HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) quality approval.
Once developed, Dhofar held a series of presentations to educate their customers about the benefits of the new dispensers.
Simple idea
“The simplest ideas are usually the best and the ‘Cut Back’ project is a case in point. All it took was a minor design change and then a series of educational presentations for Dhofar Global to quite literally clean-up, especially in the four and five-star hotel sector,” noted Singh.
Oman-based Dhofar Global Trading was established in the UAE in 2007, with a vision to expand across the Middle East and beyond to Asia. It offers its clients the best international standard products in hygiene care at competitive prices.
The company specialises in delivering quality products that include Italian hygiene paper products, non-woven products, state-of-the-art dispensers, and washroom hygiene solutions.
“As a market-leading supplier, we have been catering to the
hospitality industry, the banking sector, government ministries and other prominent private sector corporations for nearly five years,” Singh said.
