The iftar at Armani Hotel Dubai’s Mediterraneo is unique not least because it is in the iconic Burj Khalifa, but because of the experience. Few restaurants in the city offer such expansive views of the Dubai Fountain.
And as the soundtracks seem to bounce off its glistening marble floor every time the fountain comes alive, you peer down at the waterworks and the crowd that has come to see it and are reminded of your privileged vantage point.
The food is quite something too. Consisting of a number of Arabic specialities including the lamb on rice, a range of kebabs and desserts such as the must-have umm ali, chef Pedro tells me he’s decided to mix it up a bit this year by adding a bit of variety including spring rolls, a range of salads and cold starters as well as French and Italian sweet dishes. The bread station was a big hit with my dining companions and they reported that the items were so fresh they seemed to have come straight out of the oven.
The staff were attentive and friendly, sometimes so concerned with our well-being it almost seemed intrusive. But that’s a small price to pay for a satisfying dining experience.
