WAM Dubai, Feb 10th, 2010 (WAM)–Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accompanied President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, when he toured Khalifa Burj, the world’s tallest tower.
Accompanied by Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President Berdymukhammedov ascended to the 126th floor, where he viewed the landmarks of Dubai through a telescope. The Dubai Crown Prince briefed the Turkmen President about the construction phases of 828 metre Burj.
The Turkmen President expressed his admiration about the world’s tallest building, being the first President to visit it.
President Berdymukhammedov was also accompanied by Dubai Deputy Ruler HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group and other high ranking officials.
Burj Khalifa, formerly known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the tallest man-made structure in the world ever built, at 828 m (2,717 ft). The construction began on 21 September 2004, with the exterior of the structure completed on 1 October 2009. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010.
The building is part of the 2 km (490-acre) flagship development called Downtown Burj Khalifa at the First Interchange along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai’s main business district.
